I would recommend anyone here who owns a M4/AR15/Carbine to sign up for this.
You will NEVER get this level of training for the price of the class. I am waiting for the GF to go away again so I can schedule the 2 day class.
Tom and Russ were VERY professional throughout the day. At no point during did I feel out of place. I feel I got more individual attention than I would have from any personal instruction, and we were in a small group.
We went through some advanced drills, and some advanced tactics. I probably forgot some, but:
BZO at 25, 50, co witness optics.. steel targets all the way out to 200yards.. Multiple Targets, Serpentine Drills, Speed Limit drills, Shooting from behind cover standing, kneeling, prone.. drawing your pistol as backup till you are behind cover to reload/repair, shooting from the back seat suburban out the window, drawing pistol from the drivers seat ( with them in the car which freaked me out at first ), Night shooting, reaction to voice commands and light. By the end of the night I don't think I could hold my rifle up I was so tired.
I believe I fired off ~750 rounds of .223, ~200 rounds of 9mm.
They also went out of their way to fix/repair/tinker with our rifles if they were having issues. Mine had a stuck front sight which could not be adjusted and Russ spent some time fixing this. Another gentleman also had an issue with his new AR15 and was lent a weapon! where else would you get that!
I went into this class with some shooting range experience. zero formal firearms training, not even basic pistol ( which was apparent ). Tom helped me with my grip and my trigger finger. I promised myself I would take his pistol class, as well as any other training I found interesting.. He has earned my future business.
Russ..
Come home safe, and thank you very much for your instruction.
Tom, thank you as well, you really made it a pleasure to be trained.
a word of advice.. there is a HUGE different between Tactical gear and Tacticool. I went out to Quantico Tactical Supply and Bought a cheap chest rig, which I figured I would only wear once. it held 2 pistol mags, once on each end and 4-8 ar15 mags ( 4 pmags due to grooves in the mag, 8 standard mags ).. I was so tired from carrying that much ammo around, and I didnt even get to use one side of the rig due to placement of the pouches and where my rifle sat. Get something simple, no pistol holsters on the rig.. something molle on your chest and/or leg, or something you can adjust once you find the spot you are comfortable reaching from.
